Get access
An admin approves each User of ACS Infra, except the ACS team. Apply once, set your password from the approval email, then sign in to the App to make API keys and run prompts. If your email address ends in @acsresearch.org, skip to Sign in with an ACS address.
Apply for access
- Open the Apply form on the ACS Infra website.
- Fill in Email, Name, Organization, and Planned usage. The other questions are optional, but an admin decides from your answers.
- Read the platform rules, and select I agree to these rules.
- Select Apply for access. The page shows "Application received".
An admin reviews your Application, and you get an email when they decide. When they approve it, you get the email "Your ACS Infra application is approved". The approval gives you a monthly allowance of tokens, so you can send requests at once. If they reject it, the email links to the Apply form, so you can apply again.
If an admin sent you an invite link, open it instead. The form has your email filled in. Set up my account approves you at once and opens the page where you set your password. An invite link works once, for 7 days.
Set your password
- In the approval email, select Choose your password. The link works once, for 7 days.
- The App opens Set your password. Enter a Password of at least 8 characters.
- Select Set the password. The App shows "Your password is set."
- Select Sign in.
Only your newest password link works. A newer link, from a second approval email or a reset, ends the older ones. If the link is too old or used, the page says "The link did not work". Select Ask for a new link, enter your Email, and select Send the link. You have no password yet, so the email is "Set your password", and its link works for 1 hour.
- Open the App's sign-in page.
- Enter your Email and Password, and select Sign in.
Until you have an API key, the App opens API Keys after sign-in. After that, it opens the Playground, or the page that you came from.
When the App shows Continue with GitHub, Continue with Google, or Continue with Hugging Face, you can sign in with that provider instead. The provider must have verified the same email address that you sign in with here:
- Your first sign-in with a provider links it to your User.
- A provider makes a new User only for an
@acsresearch.orgaddress (Sign in with an ACS address). When no User has another email address that the provider gave, the App says so and links to the Apply form. - When the provider has not verified that email address, the App says so. Verify it at the provider, then try again.
- ACS Infra keeps none of the provider's tokens, and never calls the provider's API.
After 5 tries to sign in within a minute from one address, the App refuses the next try. It says "Too many tries to sign in." and how many seconds to wait. Limits lists the other limits of sign-in.
Sign in with an ACS address
The ACS team does not apply. If your email address ends in @acsresearch.org, sign in with a provider:
- Open the App's sign-in page.
- Select Continue with Google, or another provider that the page shows, and choose your
@acsresearch.orgaddress there.
The provider must have verified the address. Your first sign-in makes your User, and the App opens. You are an admin, with the Admin page, and a team account, which the platform's usage numbers leave out. You also get the monthly allowance of tokens.
The address must end in exactly @acsresearch.org, with no + before the @. An address on another domain, even one that contains acsresearch.org, needs an Application. An admin can take the admin role away, and a later sign-in does not give it back.
Link or unlink a provider
- Open Profile from the menu with your name in the App's navigation.
- Under Sign-in methods, select Link GitHub, Link Google, or Link Hugging Face. The App opens the provider, which sends you back to Profile.
- To take a provider off, select its Unlink button, such as Unlink GitHub.
Profile shows Sign-in methods only when the App offers a provider. You cannot unlink your last way to sign in: set a password first, with Reset your password on Profile. To unlink, your session must be less than a day old, so sign out and sign in again first.
When your session ends
A session lasts until you sign out, or until 30 days pass without a visit to the App. A new password and a suspension also end it. The next page that you open in the App then takes you to sign-in, which says "Your session has ended." After you sign in, the App opens that page again.
Reset your password
- Select Forgot password? on the sign-in page, or Reset your password on Profile.
- Enter your Email, and select Send the link. The App says "Check your email." for every address, so it never tells whether a User has that address.
- In the email "Reset your password", select Choose a new password. The link works once, for 1 hour.
- The App opens Choose a new password. Enter a New password of at least 8 characters, and select Set the new password. The App shows "Your password is changed."
- Select Sign in, and sign in with the new password.
A new password signs you out everywhere, on every device. If you have not set a password yet, the email is "Set your password" instead, and the page is Set your password.
The same limit of 5 tries a minute from one address holds for asking for a link and for setting a password.
If your access is suspended
An admin can suspend your access, for example when your requests break the platform rules that you agreed to when you applied. While your access is suspended:
- Every request with your API keys gets 401 with the code
account_suspendedand the messageYour access to ACS Infra is suspended. Write to infra@acsresearch.org if you think this is a mistake. - Sign-in gets 403 with the same message, and your sessions end.
- The App sends you no password link.
- Your queued Jobs and Loom Nodes fail when their turn comes, and spend no tokens (Paused keys and suspended access).
If you think the suspension is a mistake, write to infra@acsresearch.org from the address that you sign in with. When an admin restores your access, sign in again. Your API keys work again.
